Andy Carroll grabbed a hat-trick and Kevin Nolan scored twice as Newcastle thrashed Aston Villa.
Joey Barton gave the Magpies the lead when he thumped in from 20 yards before Nolan headed in on the half-hour mark and Carroll drilled in to make it 3-0.
Carroll volleyed his second from 12 yards after the break, Nolan hooked in the fifth from close range before Carroll swept in his third late on.

Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard made sure their grasp on first place was secured for another week, as they take down Liverpool 2-0. The Premiership title will be determined when Chelsea take on Wigan at Stamford Bridge and Manchester United host Stoke on May 9th. Chelsea certainly looks to be the favorite as they have a 1 point lead and a sizable goal differential on the Red Devils, not to mention nearly perfect at the Bridge.

Clint Dempsey and company continued their successful year, by brushing the Hammers aside 3-2 in a game where the score was not an indication of the match. Expat Clint Dempsey started things off just before half with a nicely low 15 yard finish that was assisted by Simon Davies. Carlton Cole’s own goal doubled Fulham’s lead on Chris Baird deflection, but it was Cole who gave United some hope after he scored and made amends from his previous mistake. Portsmouth was placed into administration today and becomes the first Premiership side to be placed into administration. The club’s official website stated,
“At 10:20am today Portsmouth Football Club was placed into administration following the filing of a notice of appointment at the High Court by the chargeholder, Portpin Limited.”
