BAYAMON, Puerto Rico – The Puerto Rico Islanders ended their six-game winless streak at home in the CONCACAF Champions League, getting a pair of first-half goals by Jonathan Fana and beating CD FAS 4-1.
It was first victory by the Islanders since defeating Cruz Azul in the first leg of the semifinals two seasons ago. It was only their third victory in their last seven matches, including a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy in the Preliminary Round.

SOUNDERS FC:  Nine-game unbeaten streak ends in Honduras
After being banged around at the Olympic Stadium by Marathon of Honduras for the first 17 minutes of Thursday’s match, the Seattle Sounders drew first blood in what ended up being a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Marathón.  In other words, Seattle’s unbeaten streak of nine matches (6-0-3) over all competitions has ended.

The Puerto Rico Islanders reached the group stage of the CONCACAF Champions League on Wednesday despite a 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy. The Islanders advanced 5-3 on aggregate after winning the first leg of the preliminary round last week in Los Angeles 4-1. David Foley’s penalty gave the Islanders a 1-0 lead in the 33rd. Tuesday night starts the second leg of the Preliminary Round of the CONCACAF Champions League. MLS sides Toronto FC and Seattle Sounders FC hold slim 1-0 leads going into tomorrow night’s game, while the LA Galaxy have a huge hill to climb in Puerto Rico on Wednesday.

I haven’t used a stop watch, but Fredy Montero was on the pitch for about 10 seconds before his shot actually reached the goal. You can read our take on the game here.
