Mourinho arrives with qualities and defects

Jose Mourinho has been unveiled as the new manager of Real Madrid after signing a four-year deal at the club.
The 47-year-old replaced Chilean Manuel Pellegrini to become Real’s 11th coach in the past seven years.
“I like to give myself a challenge and this is a big one,” said Mourinho. “I have a lot of confidence in myself and my ability as a coach.”
Sporting director Jorge Valdano said: “It’s an honour to have one of the most prestigious coaches in the world.”

Dempsey, Holden and Howard in the Pepsi Refresh Project

In advance of their departure for South Africa next month, three U.S. Mens National Team stars, Clint Dempsey, Stuart Holden and Tim Howard, are asking soccer fans everywhere to join them in making a difference in helping to refresh the world. International Friendly: Hungary vs Germany Highlights

Germany put in a convincing performance in their World Cup warm-up match against Hungary on Saturday night, winning 3-0 in Budapest.

International Friendly: United States vs Turkey Highlights

What do you think of the night and day halves by the US?  Do you feel like Spector, Feilhaber and Bornstein are liabilities? What do you think of the inclusion of Findley, seems he may have turned some heads (today).  Jose Torres was the biggest eye opener and looks to be developing into another Claudio Reyna type player… If not better.  Let us know your thoughts on the match!

Midfielder Eyong Enoh has scored in the 83rd minute to give Cameroon a 1-1 draw with Slovakia in a warmup for both teams before the World Cup.
Enoh slid the ball home after sloppy defending by Slovakia to score Cameroon’s first goal in three matches Saturday.
The team was still without key striker Samuel Eto’o. He has threatened to walk out of the World Cup after criticism by former player Roger Milla.

Essien out of World Cup

Black Stars midfielder, Michael Essien has been ruled out of the 2010 Fifa World Cup.
“An evaluation by a combined team of medical experts from the Ghana Football Association and Chelsea Football Club revealed that Essien will not make full recovery until the end of July.
“The Ghana Football Association wishes him full recovery and a quick return to football action,” the FA statement read.
Essien has been recovering from a knee injury picked up at the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola back in January.

MLS: Chicago Fire vs FC Dallas Highlights

David Ferreira of Dallas and Chicago’s Brian McBride scored in the first half, before their MLS clash petered out to a lifeless 1-1 draw on Thursday.
The game featured only five shots, three by Chicago. Dallas had the only shot in the second half.
Dallas went ahead in the sixth minute when Colombian playmaker Ferreira ran onto a long looping ball.
