Supporters Spotlight: Sons of Ben

DT and I met with our friend Shawn Francis of the MLS Insider Blog and The Offside Rules and took some time last week to hang out with the supporters group from Philadelphia, Sons of Ben. Although they are the Silky Johnson of sports fans we found them to be cool guys to hang out with and not a bunch of S.O.B.’s. We thought we would update you on some signings and waivers taking place around MLS.
We told you the other week that veteran MLS goalkeeper, Jon Busch was blindsided and waived by the Fire. He now has officially signed with the San Jose Earthquakes to back up Joe Cannon. Does anybody else remember the Kevin Hartman/ Matt Reis keeper controversy in LA?
Former U.S. youth international, Danny Szetela was released by DC United but has found a trial with the Philadelphia Union.

UEFA Champions League: Arsenal vs Barcelona Highlights

It looked like Barcelona were well on their way to victory behind two Zlatan Ibrahimovic goals until Theo Walcott put Arsenal on the board. A late penalty kick gave Arsenal the draw at home but they still gave away two very important away goals and Cesc Fabregas may have a broken leg.

UEFA Champions League: CSKA Moscow vs Inter Milan Highlights

Diego Milito scored the lone goal for Inter as they defended their home turf against CSKA Moscow. Inter out shot CSKA 25 to 10 with 9 of those shots being on target for the hosts. CSKA had 3 shots on target while committing a whopping 22 fouls… is Peter Nowak their coach?

CONCACAF Champions League: Toluca vs Pachuca Highlights

Toluca hosted Pachuca last night in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League semi-finals. The last four remaining teams are all from the Mexican league…”Don’t get me started, don’t even get me started.”

When good dogs go bad:
Argentine national team coach and soccer legend, Diego Maradona was sent to the hospital after being attacked by his dog. Maradona had plastic surgery which lasted about an hour and was released shortly after.  Rumor has it Juan Román Riquelme gave Maradona the dog as gift… Ok, not really, but that would’ve been awesome.

Don't Rupture Your Achilles Tendon! Ask David Beckham.

The Daily Star is reporting that David Beckham is banned from having sex for three months due to the boot he has to wear on his injured leg. Although the boot allows David to” walk without risking a re-rupture once his plaster has been removed, there are major disadvantages, including having to wear it in bed. As a result he has to lie flat on his back in bed and not move, otherwise he could cause further damage!  So there’ll certainly be no action between the sheets with Victoria until it comes off.”
