This week’s MLS tifo of the week goes to the Nordecke out in Columbus for their tifo reminding us just how critical Lamar Hutn was to the sport we know and love. I really like the simplicity and cleanliness of it all. If you know American sport culture at all, you instantly recognize what their tifo represents.

I was really hoping to see something out of Houston as well with the opening of their gorgeous stadium, but I couldn’t find anything.

The week 8 MLS Tifo of the week goes to the Empire Supporters Club  Viking Army for their great display. I’m not completely clear on the story of this display, but loved it!

Well, these folks up in DC really know their tifo, and are having a really good run! For the third week in a row the MLS Tifo of the Week goes to The District Ultras/La Norte. They really have some great artists over there. I love this tifo, it’s funny, it’s easy to understand, and from what I understand, it was POURING down rain in DC, so that fact that this tifo wasn’t destroyed is a huge deal. Great job guys!

This week’s MLS Tifo of the Week goes to La Norte (and maybe District Ultras, it’s pretty hard to tell) for their tifo in remembrance for the Barra Brava member who passed away recently, Chico . I love the flags, I love the smoke, I love the message. Great work!

This week’s MLS Tifo of the Week goes to the District Ultras for their display versus the Sounders. They really do a great job of putting up a clear, easy to read message. I love it because they are poking fun at this video. I don’t really get the hate for the video, the capo is super expressive, and if you listen carefully, is capo-ing the entire stadium, which is pretty cool.

Honorable Mention

This week’s Honorable Mention comes from a supporter submitted piece. I really liked this tifo, and noticed it on the broadcast of the game. Matthew Eide worked on this with his girlfriend,  friend Ben a “new guy” called Steven, they teamed up with the Screaming Eagles to display the tifo. I love hearing that new supporters are being brought into the ranks by experienced supporters! Great work Matthew!

This week’s MLS Tifo of the Week goes to Section 8 for their great display! They really did a great job with the lettering, I love it because there is no wondering, “What was that suppose to mean?” It’s clear and concise. I also love the use of the cards in conjunction with the overhead, it adds to the overall look.

The first week of MLS action had some really amazing tifo. If this is any indication of where MLS is headed this year, we are really in for a treat! This first week, the MLS Tifo of the week goes to the Timbers Army for their stadium wide card display. The parts I could see looked great, and would have been any better if the smoke hadn’t hung in the stadium. (thanks to @TimbersWUFC for the image)

After weeks of deliberating, I’ve decided that The Emerald City Supporters win theEndline’s 2011 MLS Tifo of the Year with their “Decades of Dominance” tifo from their derby match with the Portland Timbers. It was an incredible display, one fitting of our MLS Tifo of the Year Award. Congrats ECS! (Video after the break)
